PROJECT OSBYNOVA
OsbyNova was a three-year education project with focus on the companies and their employees. The project lasted between 2000-2002.
Background facts
A decreasing population in OsbyA need to increase the general level of knowledge among employees. The projects main purpose was to contribute to increase the level of knowledge and competence and to secure a continuous development of knowledge and competence amongst companies and their employees in order to meet and deal with rapidly changing conditions in the world around (lifelong learning).
The OsbyNova project was built on three major parts
- A competence study of the companies and their employees with the intention of “mapping out” the present situation regarding competence/ knowledge and also try to find out what kind of competence/knowledge executives and employees think is needed tomorrow in order to be competitive
- “Community College” – find ways to use the new, modern and technically upgraded upper secondary school as a centre of competence where companies, employees and the public can participate in exhibitions, workshops, lectures/seminars etc.
- Distance education/teaching – facilitates for companies to educate and “upgrade” their employees without restrictions in time and space
The main goals of the project was
- To make strategic competence available for trade and industry
- To establish a well known and functioning community college with great possibilities for everybody to be successful in the lifelong learning-process
- To create a network with universities, authorities and other important participants, both nationally and internationally
- To create a greater interest, awareness and responsibility for each individual regarding the necessity of lifelong learning.
The project ended in december 2002 and continues from 2003 as OsbyNova AB, a company with the same main goals as mentioned above and the main purpose to help and support all companys in the region developing their knowledge, competense and professional skills.
